Weapon of Choice - ARSOF in Afghanistan.
By Charles H. Briscoe, Richard L. Kiper, James A. Schroder, and Kalev I. Sepp.
Published in 2003 by the Combat Studies Institute Press, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Just after the tragedy of 9/11, in the fall of 2001, small detachments of Special Forces were infiltrated into Afghanistan to link up with the Northern Alliance and to fight the Taliban.  The SF teams were hugely successful and drove the Taliban out of all the major cities of Afghanistan into the mountains on the Afghanistan - Pakistan border.  This account is of the first two years of the war - the initial invasion to the establishment of the new Afghan Army.
